A 42-year-old Barrie man has been charged after a person allegedly made off with food from two businesses.
Police say they were called shortly after 12 p.m. on Wednesday to a Wellington Street bakery where officers were told a person tried to steal items that were on display.
"The business recovered what had been taken as the male fled the store," police said in a news release.
Thanks to the description provided to police by those at the bakery, officers arrested the accused in the parking lot of an Anne Street business, just south of Dunlop Street West. When taken into custody, police allege the accused was in possession of some other food that was taken from a business which was in the process of reporting the theft.
The man was held for a bail hearing after he was charged with theft and possession of stolen property under $5,000.
He was also wanted on outstanding arrest warrants held by Barrie police.
