MacLaren Art Centre Battle of the Bands rocks in to it's 16th year

Gear up for the musical battle of the year. The 2020 Battle of the bands will see six local groups go head to head for bragging rights and a trophy, all in aid of raising funds for the community.

Members of each band also have to contribute to the community, not only raising sponsorship money but also selling tickets. The 2020 lineup features The Bailouts, Bunker, Code Blue, Sonic Coalition, Steve’s Garage and Table Nine.

“It’s the same lineup this year - bands, various businessmen, doctors, in the community and they all put their names in first to get a spot,” said Laura Aylan-Parker, director of development at MacLaren Art Centre. “It’s quite competitive as far as who will take the trophy. Last year Steve’s Garage won.”

Currently, in its 16th year, it is a joint fundraiser between MacLaren Art Centre, Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre and the Kempenfelt Rotary Club. Over the years, the event has raised more than $500,000 for the community.

The Battle of the Bands takes place at The Ranch, 56 Bayfield St., on Feb. 21. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Live music begins at 7:15 p.m. There’s dancing and food is available for order from a new menu. Tickets are $60 available on line at maclarenart.com
