The MacLaren Art Centre is promising an exciting roster of artists as it gets set to unveil its winter exhibitions.
A special reception is being held at the downtown arts hub on December 5th, warmly welcoming a slew of artists shedding light on the landscape, great literature, and narratives of place.
This season, projects include Bewabon Shilling: Between The Forest and the Sky, said to be a major solo showing of the Rama Mnjikaning First Nation artist.
This Tremendous Arc will feature illustrations of canonical literature by Bertram Brooker, a visual artist, actor, novelist, poet, screenwriter and playwright.
Northern Convergences: Felix Kalmenson, Tanya Lukin Linklater, Jeneen Frei Njootli, Charles Stankievech, which brings together four contemporary artists who reread these holdings as a colonial archive, illuminating resonances between Russian and Canadian colonialism from 1733 to the present.
