York Regional Police have charged a fourth person in connection with an attack on Elnaz Hajtamiri who investigators allege was kidnapped from a Wasaga Beach home where she was staying with a relative.
A 25-year-old Orangeville area man has been charged with aggravated assault and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.
Weeks before the alleged kidnapping, police say Hajtamiri was in an underground parking garage in Richmond Hill on December 20, 2021 when she was attacked and struck with a frying pan. She was treated for a head wound that required dozens of stitches. The suspects fled in a vehicle.
Another suspect in the attack pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and was deported last December, while a man from Brampton remains in custody awaiting trial.
Hajtamiri's ex-boyfriend is also facing charges in the attack and in her disappearance.
Investigators have said three men dressed as police officers dragged Hajtamiri from a Wasaga Beach home on January 12, 2022 and fled in what is believed to be a white Lexus RX sport utility vehicle.
She has not been heard from or seen since that incident.
A $100,000 joint OPP and York Regional Police reward is still available for anyone with information that will lead to Hajtamiri’s whereabouts.
Police urge anyone with information on the case to contact the dedicated tip line at 1-866-876-5423 ext. 7250 or Crime Stoppers to remain anonymous.
