Barrie Police have charged a 34-year-old Wednesday morning after he refused to leave an apartment building stairwell.

Authorities say they received a report of an unknown man sleeping in the stairwell of an apartment building on Wellington Street.

According to police, the man entered the building as an actual tenant even though he was not. After making his way to the third floor, police say they found him sleeping in the stairwell.

Authorities say an officer asked the male several times to leave without success.

As a result, the man of no fixed address was arrested and removed from the property.

The male was charged with:

  • Fail to Leave when Directed, contrary to the Trespass to Property Act.
