You say “Toron-toe” I say “Tor-on-ahh”: Trailer for “Man from Toronto” drops and it’s causing frustration

What's Trending with MJ

The pet peeve of many Ontarionians is hard to ignore in a new movie filmed in Toronto.

The trailer for “The man from Toronto,” starring Kevin Hart and Woody Harrelson, has dropped, and no one can properly pronounce “Toronto.”

Locals say Tor-on-ahh, while others slam that second T and pronounce it Tor-on-Toe!

It hurts a bit every time you hear it, and they say it a lot.

The funniest part is that no one says it the same way twice; it’s always a bit different but equally wrong.

One guy near the beginning of the trailer gets close though.

Maybe that’s the ongoing joke, and they meant to do that?

Toronto is not alone when it comes to its pronunciations, throwing people off.

For example:

Calgary is “cal-ger-ee” not “cal-gAry”

Saskatchewan is “sas-catch-eh-when” not “sas-catch-eh-WON”

Regina is pronounced “reg-eye-na” not “reg-ee-nah”

Wasaga is “wah-sah-gah” not “wah-say-ga”

Etobicoke is “e-toe-bick-oh” not “e-toe-bick-coke”

Delhi is “del-HI” not deli

You can watch the funny, but equally frustrating trailer below.
