Justin Allen was in the middle of a vasectomy on April 5th when the 4.8-magnitude quake struck just before 10:30 a.m. near Lebanon, NJ.

In an interview with the Guardian, Allen recalled he thought a train was passing just as he was under the knife, fully lucid and under anesthesia.
"The doctor said, 'I think this is an earthquake.' I figured he was messing with me, but he had to stop because everything was shaking."
The surgeon promptly put the tools down until the earthquake passed.
Allen said, "I really wasn't worried because he had walked me through every step of the procedure, so it mostly felt like a brief speed bump. We were mostly just calm and laughing as the room shook."
After all was said and done, Allen's procedure was completed without any more shakeups.
He posted about the experience on X; his wife replied it was a sign they should not have any more kids.
"We should never ever ever have another child ever again … ever."
