Ontario Provincial Police say a farmer working in a cornfield discovered an illegal marijuana grow operation in Springwater Township.

On Monday, police were asked to attend an address in the area of McNabb Road near Edenvale, regarding the plants.

"All four plots were deep into the cornfield," OPP said in a news release.

Police picked 538 immature marijuana plants.

The plants were destroyed at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
