Barrie police responded to a call shortly after midnight on Friday about a suspicious person lurking in the dark between homes on Nelson Street.

Police said they received continuous updates on the whereabouts of the person from the caller, who said the individual was wearing a long black coat, a mask of some type, and their hair appeared to be tied back.

When officers arrived, the male was located in his Halloween costume which he said he was "simply trying out."

Police left the area and reassured the man that his costume selection was a "good one" and that his own neighbour didn't recognize him.
