Million Dollar Fire Not Considered Suspicious

Fifteen People Forced From Wasaga Beach Travelodge Friday Night

Investigators are still combing through the ashes, but believe the cause of a Wasaga Beach hotel fire is not suspicious in nature.

Chief Mike McWilliam says the fire did about $1.5 million in damage to the Travelodge on Mosley Street.

Over two dozen firefighters were called to the hotel around 8:30 Friday night, and it took until around 1:30 the following morning to get under control. Chief McWilliam expressed gratitude to neighbouring services for help, including the Collingwood Fire Department for sending an aerial truck and crew to help battle the blaze.

Fifteen guests and tenants of the hotel were displaced by the fire.
