Millions more doses of COVID vaccine expected in Canada this week

Ontario preparing to allow more young adults to get a shot

Another huge delivery of COVID vaccines is expected in Canada this week – 4.5 million doses of Pfizer and Moderna.

However, questions remain as to how the immunization program will be affected by the departure last week of Vaccine Chief, Major General Dany Fortin, who is under military investigation. The feds have yet to name a replacement

Ontario administered its seven millionth vaccine at the weekend as the province prepares to accelerate its immunization program.

Eligibility for a dose in Ontario will skew younger this week. Those as young as 30 will be able to sign up, though Queen’s Park has yet to say which day that can happen.

It’s hoping to open appointments to all adults next week.

And as of this week, shots are being sent to regions on a per capita basis after two weeks of half of the supply being shipped to so-called hot spots.
