A hot and humid airmass has prompted forecasters to issue heat warnings for a large portion of Ontario.
Environment Canada says the Barrie area will see humidex values in the low 40s on Monday, with a high around 33 Cel. An overnight low of 22 Cel won't offer much relief from the sticky conditions.
Some relief is expected on Tuesday. It will still be muggy and warm, but forecasters say the heat will be below warning criteria.
By Thursday, Environment Canada is forecasting showers and a high of 22 Cel, which is a few degrees below the normal high of 25 for this time of year.
Due to the extreme heat, the City of Barrie is making all public facilities available, during normal operating hours, for cooling centres.
The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit is offering tips to beat the heat, stay cool and healthy: https://barrie360.com/steps-to-take-during-extreme-heat/
