Barrie's Spring into Clean initiative, which ran from April 21 to 23, was a huge success.
The effort, consisting of nearly 17,000 community members, saw a total of 6.47 tonnes of litter collected from approximately 140 locations throughout the city, including parks, trails, roadways, and public spaces.
That's around 1.6 tonnes more than what was collected during last year's events.
The initiative saw participation from local businesses, residents, and elementary and secondary school students and staff, who were all provided with gloves and collection bags.
Spring Into Clean, an annual affair that takes place during Earth Week, aims to promote environmental awareness and social responsibility while cleaning up the city.
The City would like to thank Glen Martin Limited for their support in providing supplies for this event.
