Mother's Day gift for Orillia woman hits the jackpot

Carol Sherrit of Orillia won a $100,000 top prize with Instant Bingo Doubler.

Carol, a retiree, is not one to often pick up a lottery ticket on her own. Traditionally, her son makes sure to put a few BINGO tickets in her Mother’s Day card. What a gift this year’s ticket would end up being.

“I was scratching the ticket and was unsure if I had won. I had to ask my husband to check it on his phone”, she recalled while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to collect her winnings. “I went to the store and the terminal froze. I thought, ‘I can’t believe it!’ It’s so surreal. I wanted to scream,” she laughed.

“I shared the news with my husband and called my children. They were shaken but so happy for me. Things like this don’t happen to people like me, until today,” she smiled.

Carol plans to do some work around the house and take some time to travel.

The winning ticket was purchased at Petro Canada on Coldwater Road in Orillia.
