Police say a pickup truck driver was nabbed travelling more than 80 km/h over the posted speed limit in south Barrie.

This was just before 12:30 Wednesday morning, as the truck headed westbound on Mapleview Drive West.

The vehicle was stopped as it got to the intersection with Essa Road.

When the officer requested a breath sample, police say the man refused and was charged with failing to comply with a demand.

The 30-year-old from Thornton was also charged with stunt driving and speeding.

His vehicle has been impounded for seven days and his driver's licence has been suspended for three months.
