A motorist entering Wasaga Beach on River Road West caught the attention of an Ontario Provincial Police officer who noted the SUV had unauthorized licence plates.
A traffic stop was initiated by the officer as the vehicle pulled into a parking lot.
After confirming the identity of the driver, police learned the motorist was up on four concurrent criminal driving prohibitions and one provincial driving suspension.
During their chat, police said the officer began an impaired driving investigation and charged the motorist after the 53-year-old man from Wasaga Beach failed a roadside screening device.
He was charged with the following:
- Four counts of driving while prohibited
- impaired driving
- driving while under suspension (provinical)
- unauthorized plates
- no current valid permit
In addition to the charges, the motorist received a 90-day licence suspension for impaired driving and a 45-day vehicle impound.
Last but not least, he has a future court date to answer to the charges.
