Movers and Makers: Bridget’s Bunnies

Working to ensure no family endures pregnancy or infant loss alone

This edition of Movers and Makers is brought to you by Busch Systems

Following a healthy pregnancy, nothing could have prepared the founders of Bridget’s Bunnies for their baby, Bridget Bell Morrison, being stillborn. Relying entirely on the support of those around them, they created Bridget’s Bunnies to make sure that everyone who has to endure this terrible loss, never has to do so alone.

Bridget’s Bunnies provides ‘Comfort Kits’ to two local hospitals, Royal Victory Health Regional Health Centre and Stevenson Memorial Hospital, with each kit containing items that helped them when they went through their loss. There are a number of different kits to choose from including the stillbirth and infant loss kit, pregnancy loss kit, father kit, grandparent kit, and three sibling kits for older siblings of varying ages. While each kit is a little different, they include things like stuffed animals, books, journals, tea, and other items intended to provide gentle directions and lots of compassion.

“Just knowing that you’re not alone, really helps guide you through the process. You have people and other families you can reach out to for support,” said Matt Morrison, Co-Founder and Treasurer of Bridget’s Bunnies.

Comfort Kits are also shipped on demand from their website.

In order to keep providing kits completely free of charge, Bridget’s Bunnies relies on the generous support of the community, and one of the ways you can help is through their annual Bridget’s Run. A family run/walk, Bridget’s Run can be completed at your own pace and on your own time between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on October 16. There is also an opening ceremony and high-energy warm-up to get you started via Facebook Live and all participants are encouraged to take lots of pictures for social media, tagging @BridgetsBunnies, so everyone can stay connected!

Registration for Bridget’s Run is open, and you can sign up, here.
