Ontario Provincial Police were kept hopping as they responded to multiple collisions on Highway 11 in the Orillia area.
The activity on the road went into the tank around 6 a.m. Tuesday, as police said the collisions were caused by severe, rapidly changing winter weather conditions. Both northbound lanes of Highway 11 between Line 11 in Oro-Medonte Township and Memorial Avenue in Orillia were closed for approximately one hour while officers managed several collisions. No injuries have been reported at this time.
As of mid-morning, 10 collisions have been cleared by police, with several other vehicles still needing to be removed from the road.
"Motorists may continue to experience delays as cleanup and recovery efforts continue," police said in a news release.
