Now that CUPE job action has ended, recreation programming offered through local schools will soon go as scheduled.
Now that CUPE has called off its job action we are working to have our recreational programs resume as previously scheduled. Please wait for communications from your instructor. Thank you for your patience, cooperation and understanding in advance ☺️— Town of Innisfil (@townofinnisfil) October 7, 2019
Various rec programs offered from municipalities like Barrie, Orillia, and Innisfil had to be put on hold or find alternate venues, over safety concerns brought on by CUPE job action. In Barrie, basketball programs at Hewitt’s Creek Secondary were postponed.
You’re being asked to watch for communication from your program’s instructor with more information on how missed classes or sessions will be made up. The City of Barrie was offering refunds for missed sessions.
It was announced late Sunday that a tentative deal had been reached between the union and the province, averting a full-on strike Monday morning.
