Various rec programs offered from municipalities like Barrie, Orillia, and Innisfil had to be put on hold or find alternate venues, over safety concerns brought on by CUPE job action. In Barrie, basketball programs at Hewitt’s Creek Secondary were postponed.

You’re being asked to watch for communication from your program’s instructor with more information on how missed classes or sessions will be made up. The City of Barrie was offering refunds for missed sessions.
It was announced late Sunday that a tentative deal had been reached between the union and the province, averting a full-on strike Monday morning.
