A vehicle that OPP say was taken without the owner's permission caught fire after a crash in Muskoka Lakes Township this morning.

Around 2:30 a.m., Bracebridge OPP, Muskoka Lakes Fire, and Muskoka EMS responded to reports about the incident on Muskoka Road 118 just east of Scarcliffe Road.

The vehicle left the roadway, struck a rock cut and engulfed in flames, according to OPP in a media release.

"Officers attended the scene and initially were unable to locate the driver," OPP stated.

"Further investigation revealed that the driver had taken the vehicle without the owner's permission and fled the scene after the collision."
