Stranger Things will end after five seasons, but its universe is far from over.

Netflix has announced that a Stranger Things animated show has been greenlit, with its creators, the Duffer Brothers, stoked to see it happen.

In a statement, Matt and Ross Duffer said, "We've always dreamed of an animated Stranger Things in the vein of the Saturday morning cartoons that we grew up loving, and to see this dream realized has been is absolutely thrilling."

They continued, "The scripts and artwork are incredible, and we can't wait to share more with you! The adventure continues."

Last year, the Duffer Brothers launched "Upside Down" productions and said a few Stranger Things-related projects were developing.

At this point, it's unknown what the show will be about, or if any of the characters we know will be part of it (in animated form, of course.)

Stranger Things debuted on Netflix in 2016, becoming the company's most-watched English language series.
