After being absent from 2023's Scream 6, Neve Campbell is back as Sidney Prescott.
Campbell announced on social media that she's thrilled to be back for the upcoming Scream 7, which original Scream writer Kevin Williamson directs.
"I’ve dreamt for many years of how amazing it would be to make one of these movies with Kevin Williamson at the helm. And now it’s happening," she said.
Scream fans were heartbroken when she wasn't in the last film due to a pay dispute.
Instead, the film focused on Sam and Tara Carpenter, played by Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega.
Campbell's announcement brings much-needed good news for the upcoming film.
The seventh part has been plagued with complications in the last few months.
Barrera was let go because of comments she made on social media about the conflict between Israel and Hamas.
Jenna Ortega left the project shortly after for scheduling reasons with her show "Wednesday."
Director Christopher Landon soon exited, too.
Williamson also expressed his excitement about the good news, saying
“It’s been nearly 30 years since my very first script, Scream, was directed by the legendary Wes Craven. I never would have predicted what it would become. Or that I would be directing the seventh installment of the franchise.”
