The Town of New Tecumseth is set to open up a few more doors in a phased approach to reopening town facilities.
As part of New Tecumseth’s Phase One of recovery, it is now taking bookings for all outdoor sports fields. The only exception is Field 1 at Tottenham’s Coventry Park due to renovations to its lighting system. The town has also begun the process of booking indoor and outdoor events, so long as these gatherings respect provincial limits on the number of people.
Phase Two of the township’s plan kicks in on August 4 and involves reopening the Museum on the Boyne, by appointment only, along with limited use of township recreation centres. The 54+ Centre will be permitted to reopen, while the Alliston Memorial Arena and Beeton Memorial Arena will be open for floor and hall rentals.
While the Tottenham Community and Fitness Centre will be open for bookings and drop-in use of the gymnasium floor and walking track, the gym at the centre will have to be booked in advance.
The Township Administration Centre will reopen to the public as of August 10, by appointment only. Those services requiring an appointment include dealing with issues of permits, applications, or planning departments. Marriage licence pick-up and freedom of information document pick-up will also be available. Residents are encouraged to continue using online options whenever possible.
Phase Three comes down the road and could include the reopening of ice surfaces at arenas, and re-establishing fitness classes with reduced numbers.
