No Ice Is Safe Ice, Even For the Dog
Several Fire Services Reminding You It Hasn't Been Cold Long Enough
While we’ve been under Ol’ Man Winter’s thumb for a few days now, it still hasn’t been cold enough to venture out on the ice.
Fire Services including Gravenhurst are quick to tell you that “no ice is safe ice” but right now especially so. Fire Services say it has not been cold enough for long enough to make for solid ice surfaces.
#Muskoka lakes are NOT frozen, and therefore not safe to venture out on… then again, no ice is safe ice!
Please, if you love your dog, keep them on a leash as well (unless you’re in a dog park of course).@OPP_CR @ofah pic.twitter.com/hw1XH8RdDr

Orillia Fire Service joined the one in Gravenhurst in reminding folks to keep your four-legged friend on a leash while walking near any bodies of water, to keep your pup from straying out too far into dangerous territory.
That crust across the lakes? REALLY THIN! Please remind your kids to stay away from waterways. It’s also a good idea to have that leash on your dog when out for the walk. #IceWaterRescue #NoIceIsSafeIce
