SIU Terminates Investigation After Injury Claims Proved False

The Special Investigations Unit has cleared a Newmarket officer causing , after it was discovered there were no injuries to begin with.

York Regional Police went to a Newmarket home back in mid-October to arrest a suspect over firearms-related offenses. It’s said he tried to escape out a basement window, but police caught him midway. During his arrest, the SIU says he complained of an injury to his ankle.

The SIU got involved after that but say medical evidence confirms the man didn’t suffer any serious injury, while the investigation has since been terminated.
