No new COVID cases in Barrie, three in northern Simcoe, as province-wide case count increased by 111

Two cases reported in Midland, one in Tiny Township

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit is confirming three new cases of COVID-19 in our region, all within northern Simcoe County.

On Thursday, the local health unit confirmed two new positive cases of COVID-19 in the town of Midland, along with one in Tiny Township. Yesterday, the health unit’s single caseload addition came from nearby Penetanguishene.

Meanwhile, the province-wide case count increased by 111 on Thursday, with Public Health Ontario also announcing 141 recoveries. There were also nine lives lost since Wednesday’s update from health officials.

Health Units in Toronto, Peel, York, and Windsor-Essex all reported double-digit increases on Thursday, while the rest of Ontario’s 34 public health units reported five or fewer.
