No new COVID cases in Barrie Wednesday, three across the region, and over a hundred province-wide

No deaths province-wide in the past 48 hours

There were no Barrie residents among Thursday’s COVID-19 caseload addition from the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit (SMDHU).

The SMDHU confirmed three cases on Thursday, one each from Bradford West-Gwillimbury, Ramara, and Bracebridge. The latter, a woman over the age of 80, is associated with an outbreak at the Pines long-term care home. The facility confirms her symptoms are mild.

This brings the number of cases associated with the outbreak at the Pines to two people. The outbreak was declared last week after an employee of the home tested positive for COVID-19. Extensive testing commenced at that point, with only one positive test coming back since.

Meanwhile, Public Health Ontario confirmed 132 cases of COVID-19 since Wednesday’s update, along with 119 recoveries. There have been no deaths due to COVID-19 in the last 48 hours.
