This is not a good start for a newbie driver from Barrie.

OPP say a 27-year-old man was stopped at a R.I.D.E. spot check on Ridge Road in Oro-Medonte late Saturday, where police allege the motorist wasn't wearing a seatbelt and had an open container of alcohol in the vehicle.

The man was arrested and taken to the police detachment for further investigation.

The suspect is up on numerous charges including impaired driving offences, failure to wear a seatbelt, driving with open liquor and failure to produce a driver's licence.
