OFM probes garage fire in Alcona

The Ontario Fire Marshal (OFM) continues to probe the cause of a garage fire at a Booth Avenue home in Alcona.

Innisfil Deputy Fire Chief Carla MacDonald says the 911 caller reported hearing an explosion around 11:30 Wednesday morning.

When firefighters got to the address, they encountered heavy smoke coming out of the garage and out of the eaves on both sides of the house.

There were no residents home at the time.

MacDonald says smoke did migrate into the house.

Damage is pegged at around $600,000.
