Logan Ross has pulled out of the federal Conservative nomination race in Barrie Springwater Oro Medonte (BSOM).
In a post on her Facebook page she says it’s been a wonderful experience, but she’s suspending her campaign and throwing her support behind Barrie counillor Doug Shipley who announced his intention to seek the nomination a few days ago.
Fellow councillor Sergio Morales is also vying for the nomination.
BSOM MP Alex Nuttall is not seeking reelection this fall.
Here’s Ross’ full statement from her Facebook page…
I am suspending my campaign to be the Conservative Party of Canada candidate for Barrie-Springwater-Oro-Medonte.
This campaign has been a wonderful experience. I’ve knocked on thousands of doors across our community and it was a pleasure to have the chance to listen to your thoughts and concerns.
I am especially grateful to my team of local volunteers, and to local Conservative members, both new and old, who were supporting me in this race.
I encourage all those who were supporting me to help Doug Shipley win the election. Doug is a strong candidate and family friend. I look forward to helping him keep this riding blue.
This will be a new chapter for local conservatives. As conservatives, we need to move forward together to win. We need to turn the page on the politics of division. We need to turn the page on a failing Liberal government.
I grew up in north Barrie and Springwater and I greatly appreciate the support I’ve received from my community over the last few months. It was a truly humbling and unforgettable experience.
I am deeply grateful for the support I received, and to all those who signed up to vote, I can’t thank you enough. I look forward to seeing you all again and working with you in the future.
I hope to see you this summer out knocking on doors to elect Doug Shipley as our new Conservative MP for Barrie-Springwater-Oro-Medonte.
