One person killed in Ramara house fire on Sunday

Fire Marshal and provincial police investigating

Damage is pegged at $200,000 in a house fire in Ramara Township that left one person dead.

Fire Chief Tony Stong told Barrie 360 the blaze was called in around 4 a.m. Sunday to a single-storey dwelling on Harrys Lane in Bayshore Village, south of Highway 12.

A second occupant of the home was tended to by paramedics at the scene and released.

Stong said there were working smoke alarms in the residence.

The identity of the victim has not been released. An autopsy will be done.

The investigation into the fire is being conducted by the Ontario Fire Marshal and Ontario Provincial Police.
