
Provincial police have arrested two people and laid a multitude of drug charges against them following a traffic stop in New Tecumseth.
Nottawasaga OPP say officers were conducting proactive patrols in Alliston on Monday just after 12:30 a.m. when they saw a white SUV being driven by someone that did not match the description of the vehicle's registered owner.
Eventually, police conducted a traffic stop and arrested both occupants beofore seizing 36.5 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 8.5 grams of suspected cocaine, and determining the licence plates on the vehicle were fraudulent.
The driver, a 43-year-old woman from Mono, and the 62-year-old passenger from Essa were charged with possession of cocaine and methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking. Additionally, the driver was booked on eight driving and licence infractions.
Both were released from custody and are scheduled to appear in a Bradford court at a future date. The vehicle was also impounded for 45 days.
