Provincial police say they have recovered the body of a snowmobiler who was found in Go Home River in Georgian Bay Township.

OPP say they received a report Sunday morning from a person that there was an individual in the water.

At the time, police believed it was a snowmobiler that hadn't been seen for about 18 hours.

"Due to the unpredictable weather and ice conditions, the water was deemed hazardous with flowing water and the individual was not able to be reached from the shore," OPP said in a news release on Tuesday.

The OPP emergency response team, police divers and the OPP Aviation Unit went to the location which could only be reached by water.

The body of the 46-year-old, who police have not identified, was found shortly after by the OPP Aviation Unit and the emergency response team.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call Bracebridge OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
