OPP Cruisers Damaged In Wrong Way Traffic Stop
No one hurt
Trying to stop a wrong-way vehicle on Highway 11 early Sunday left three OPP cruisers damaged.
Police say the vehicle was southbound in the northbound lanes near Bayou Road around 3am; that the cruisers were deliberately rammed as officers tried to get the driver to stop.
He finally did at Laclie Street and Sundial Drive in Orillia.
No one was hurt.
A 35-year-old London man facing a slew of charges including:
- Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- Flight while pursued by peace officer contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- Driving while ability impaired – motor vehicle contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- Drive wrong way – divided highway contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
- Fail to stop for police contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
