OPP Encourage Online Reporting For Minor Crimes
Service opens up front line Workers to urgent calls
The Ontario Provincial police are reminding citizens that they can now report minor crimes online. Over 2 million 911, non-emergency and administrative calls were received last year. OPP are saying that online reporting will allow front line officers to focus on urgent calls and crime prevention within communities. Crimes that are eligible for online reporting includes:
• Theft Under $5000
• Mischief / Damage to Property Under $5000
• Mischief / Damage to Vehicle Under $5000
• Theft from Vehicle
• Lost / Missing Property Under $5000
• Stolen License Plates
• Driving Complaints (after the occurrence)
The system can be accessed at opp.ca/reporting
This will take the user to a secure link where they will be given precise instructions on how to fill out the report.
