Collingwood OPP follow footprints to the home of suspect
Police walked their way to an arrest
Provincial police were presented with several clues while investigating a break and enter at a business in Collingwood.
On Dec. 10 at around 4:30 a.m., police responded to an alarm at a business on First Street. Officers noticed a fresh set of footprints in the snow leading away from the area. A short distance away, the officers found a discarded jacket, and inside the pocket was a document with a person’s name on it.
Police continued to follow the footprints, which led to a nearby residence, and a man answered a knock at the door. He was identified as the person whose name appeared on the document.
Officers caught a glance of a pair of boots near the front door that were an exact match to the footprints found coming from the store on First Street.
A 47-year-old Collingwood man was charged with break and enter.
He has a court date on Jan. 11, 2022.
