Huronia West OPP have identified the human remains that were located in the Township of Springwater last month.

On April 19, around 5:00 p.m., officers received information that suspected human remains were located by a member of the public on a property off Penetanguishene Road.

Police say a post-mortem examination has identified the human remains as a 38-year-old man reported missing to the Barrie Police Service in July 2022.

The death is deemed to be non-suspicious and foul play is not suspected - there is no threat to public safety.

The Huronia West OPP Crime Unit, OPP Forensic Identification Services, and the Office of the Chief Coroner are conducting the investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Huronia West OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers to remain anonymous at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or https://ontariocrimestoppers.ca/.
