OPP say a jet ski rider has died after falling into Lake Simcoe

Police say neither of the two people on the jet ski were wearing life jackets

Orillia OPP say the victim from Thursday's drowning in Lake Simcoe has been identified as 54-year-old Tony Chan of Mississauga.

One person is dead after falling from a jet ski on Lake Simcoe in Ramara Township.

Orillia OPP say around 3:50 Thursday afernoon, first responders were alerted about two people in distress in the water, who fell off a jet ski near Bonnie Beach. Neither person was wearing a life jacket.

One person was rescued from the water by members of the public. With the assistance of the OPP helicopter, the second person was located submerged in the water and was retrieved by Ramra firefighters and transported to a local hospital where they were pronounced dead.
