OPP investigate collision that killed pedestrian in Collingwood

Collingwood and The Blue Mountains OPP have concluded an on-scene investigation regarding a fatal auto collision that killed a pedestrian Wednesday night in Collingwood.

Officers were dispatched just before 10 p.m. to Mountain Road where a driver has collided with a woman who was directly in the vehicle's path.

The 22-year-old female pedestrian from Wasaga Beach suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced dead shortly after being taken to hospital by EMS, according to police.

A post mortem was conducted and the roadway was closed for nearly a day while officers documented the scene and collected any related. Mountain Road eventually reopened Thursday at approximately 9:30 p.m.

The investigation is ongoing however no charges are expected to be laid in connection to the death.
