OPP investigating suspicious incidents in Thornton

A teenaged boy was twice approached by a man driving a white van

A white van is on the radar of Nottawasaga OPP following two similar incidents involving a teenaged boy.

Police said around 9:20 p.m. on Monday, the boy was walking on Meadowland Boulevard in Thornton when he was approached by a man driving a white panel van with two ladders on the roof, a yellow one and a non-coloured ladder. The man started up a conversation with the teen, who ran home and alerted his parents, who contacted police. The teen said this wasn’t the first incident involving the white van and the same driver.

Last October, the teenager said he was walking with friends in the area of the Thornton arena off Barrie Street when they were approached by the same white van. This time there were two men inside the vehicle.

The driver is described as white, mid 30s, very thin face, shortly curly hair, with a thin, long goatee. The passenger is described as being white and heavy set.

During this incident, the driver tried to start a conversation with the teenager, who left the area.

Police are looking to speak with the driver or passenger of the white van, or with any witnesses that may have been in the area at the time of the incident. Anyone with information regarding the vehicle or males involved in this incident, may have dash camera footage, or home security footage, is asked to contact the Nottawasaga OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
