OPP is finding people on boats with non-approved life jackets

Look for a specific label on the life jacket that shows it has been approved

Southern Georgian Bay OPP is concerned about what they have been finding while doing vessel checks on Georgian Bay.

There are some people on the water with non-approved life jackets.

Police said boaters should check their life jackets to make sure there is a label stating they have been approved by either Transport Canada, the Canadian Coast Guard or Fisheries and Oceans Canada.

OPP sent along some pictures of non-approved life jackets they have found.

Please take a moment to review the following Transport Canada link https://www.tc.gc.ca/en/services/marine/getting-started-safe-boating/choosing-lifejackets-personal-flotation-devices.html#standards to ensure that you have the correct life jackets aboard your vessel and OPP
