OPP make arrest in downtown Midland robbery investigation

A suspect has been arrested after a person alerted police Thursday afternoon that they were confronted by an individual armed with an edged weapon on Borsa Lane in Midland. The caller reported the person was in possession of their wallet.

Ontario Provincial Police say the suspect was located on Bourgeois Lane and allegedly bit the officer when an attempt was made to arrest the individual. Other officers were able to subdue the suspect and seize an edged weapon from the person. Police also located property nearby they say was removed from the victim's parked vehicle.

A 33-year-old Midland resident has been charged with the following offences:

  • Robbery with Weapon
  • Assault with A Weapon
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 - in Canada
  • Resist Peace Officer
  • Possession of an identity document
  • Possession of a credit card

The accused was released from custody and will be appearing before the Ontario Court of Justice  on November 14, 2024.
