OPP in Midland make arrest in sexual assault investigations

Police have charged a 32-year-old Midland man in a sexual assault investigation that began in September.

According to Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), a search warrant was executed at a Manly Street home in the town on Wednesday night and the suspect was taken into custody.

He is facing the following charges:

  • Sexual assault (two counts)
  • Sexual assault with a weapon (three counts)
  • Administer Noxious thing (two counts)
  • Communicate for purposes of obtaining sexual services (two counts)
  • Overcome resistance
  • Fail To Comply (four counts)

The accused is in custody awaiting a bail hearing and will appear in court at a future date.

Police believe there could be other people in the community who may have been victimized by the accused.

There won't be additional information about the investigation, OPP stated, as it is before the courts.
