OPP say driver fled the scene after crashing through drive-thru sign in Huntsville

Suspect treated for minor injuries following single-vehicle crash

A Huntsville man is facing charges after the term “drive-thru” was put to the test.

Huntsville OPP says they got a call to the parking lot of a Tim Horton’s on Hanes Road and West Road shortly before 8 p.m. Friday with reports of a single-vehicle collision. Police say it appears a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed left Hanes Road and crossed into the Tim Horton’s parking lot before crashing through a drive-thru sign and into a hydro pole.

Investigators say the driver fled the scene on foot but was located not far away. He was taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

A 29-year-old man has been charged with impaired driving, dangerous driving, driving with cannabis within reach, and failing to remain at the scene of a crash. He is expected in Huntsville court in early May to answer these charges.
