OPP ticket pastor in Bracebridge under Ontario’s Reopening Act

Police found a religious gathering in a warehouse

Ontario Provincial Police in Bracebridge received a complaint from a member of the public around 11 a.m. on Sunday about a large gathering at a warehouse on Monica Lane.

Officers went to the location and found a large group of people inside for a religious gathering, not wearing masks and not practising social distancing.

Police said the pastor refused to co-operate despite attempts by officers to educate the people involved and have them disperse. The pastor was issued a provincial offence notice for failing to comply under the Reopening Ontario Act, which is an $800 fine.
