Orillia OPP lay assault charges in connection to incident allegedly involving edged weapon

Provincial police charged two people after an alleged altercation outside a downtown Orillia business.  

OPP say officers were patrolling Mississaga Street around 1 a.m. on Jan. 25.

"A member of the Orillia OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) observed an individual suffering from injuries believed to be caused by an edged weapon," police wrote in a release today. "One individual was transported to a local area hospital with minor injuries."

Police determined there was no threat to public safety and it was believed to be an isolated incident.

A 23-year-old Orillia man has been charged with:

  • Assault

While a 20-year-old Orillia man faces:

  • Assault with a weapon

Both have court dates set for this month.
