$200,000 damage total for fire at family residence in Orillia

The fire happened on Borland Street in Orillia

Orillia Fire Service said a fire at a family residence in Orillia totalled $200,000 in damages.

On Monday just after 7 a.m., the Orillia Fire Service responded to an attic fire at a two-storey residential home on Borland Street in Orillia.

Fire crew closed the street and notified the public to avoid the area until they got the fire under control.

Deputy Fire Chief Chris Ferry told Barrie 360 the family got out of the structure safe.

Ferry said the cause of the fire is unknown and is not suspicious, but is still under investigation. He noted that all smoke alarms in the house were working at the time of the blaze.

The deputy said the damage total is $200,000.
