Orillia hands out thousands in festival grants

Five organizations receiving funds

Several festivals and events in Orillia are getting a boost, thanks to a city grant program.

The City of Orillia has announced the recipients of the Cultural Festivals and Events Grant Program, with $2,500 going towards Orillia’s Canada Day Committee, Perch Festival, Scottish Festival, and the Roots North Music Festival. The Starry Night Studio and Gallery Tour will receive $1,500, for a total of $11,500 in grants handed out.

“We are proud to support these worthy organizations through the City of Orillia grants program,” said Councillor Ralph Cipolla, “Festivals and events bring our city to life throughout the year and contribute greatly to our local economy. Orillia is a premier tourism destination, largely because of the wonderful festivals and events we offer.”

The City of Orillia has already earmarked $32,000 in grant money in its 2020 budget.
