Orillia OPP arrested and charged four with impaired driving in separate incidents in less than 24 hours over the weekend.
On Saturday around 8:15 p.m., officers say they were dispatched to a vehicle in the ditch in the north end of Orillia, and the driver was determined impaired.
A 26-year-old Orillia woman was transported to the detachment for further investigation and was then charged with operation while impaired.
She was released and has a court date for the end of the month, her vehicle has been impounded for seven days, and licence suspended for 90 days.
The next incident was on Sunday at 3:00 p.m.
"Officers were advised that an offender currently on a Conditional Sentence Order was breaching their conditions," OPP stated.
"Police were able to locate the male and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The individual refused to stop for police, however, was arrested a short distance away in front of a private residence."
A 39-year-old Orillia man has been charged with:
- Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand
- Resist Peace Officer
- Flight From Peace Officer
- Dangerous Operation
- Breach of Conditional Sentence Order
The accused was held for a bail hearing today.
His vehicle was impounded for seven days and he was issued a 90-day licence suspension.
Around two hours later, OPP responded to a call for a possible impaired driver on Highway 11 in Oro Medonte.
"The vehicle was subsequently located in the City of Orillia by members of the Detachment and Central Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) team," officers said. "The driver was subsequently arrested for impaired driving."
A 46-year-old Orillia man is up on:
- Operation while Impaired- Alcohol and Drugs
- Operation While Impaired- Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)
He is scheduled for court in March, vehicle impounded for forty-five days, and a 90-day driver's licence suspension.
Within the same hour, OPP also responded to a minor collision at a business on Highway 12 in Oro-Medonte.
"Officers from the Central Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) Team attended the scene and determined that the driver of one of the involved vehicles was impaired," police said. "They were subsequently arrested and transported to the Orillia Detachment for further investigation."
A 41-year-old Oro-Medonte man faces the following:
- Operation While Impaired- Alcohol and Drugs
- Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand
A court date is scheduled for the end of February.
