A woman was arrested and charged with impaired driving by Orillia OPP after attending court for the same offence.

On Thursday around 3:25 p.m., officers were on patrol near Highway 12 and Memorial Avenue when they noticed a driver on their cell phone.

OPP say after stopping the vehicle and speaking with the driver, the person was found to be impaired.

"Upon identifying the individual, it was learned that they had earlier attended criminal court regarding a prior impaired driving offence," police said in a release.

A 36-year-old Collingwood woman was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada

She's scheduled to appear in Orillia court in March.

Her driver's license has been suspended for 90 days, and her vehicle impounded for seven days.
